Brush & Ink

When you work 9-6, mid week gets tricky. You get back to your place, unwind & want to stay awake & be productive, but you know there are too many days before Saturday morning. On the flip side, if you start painting at 9pm, logical thought leaves your mind & the clock speeds up....

& these are the joys of paying off art school loans! Thank goodness I have a decent job.

Something unrefined, just for fun (& to keep my fingers warm..April sun, please come back!):

-SOI 2010 Student Competition-

Good news to end the weekend with: My Giraffe piece was accepted into the Society of Illustrators 2010 Student Scholarship Competition. This is a huge honor, as only 3.8% of the entries were accepted! Furthermore, out of over 40 schools the School of Visual Arts received the most winning entries, so congrats go out to everyone else as well!

The opening of the show will be held on May 7th, & will run from May 5th-May 29th, so if you're in or around the city, drop by!

The product of what can happen on Superbowl Sunday, when you feel the need to paint but are still not quite sure what..

(Acrylic on Wood)
A view of my bedroom wall before taking the liberty of giving away a couch, for in leu of a second couch, I am now able to have an art corner in my living room.

& so you have it: bits & pieces that have just begun, are in the works, or that are being revisited.

It has been too long..!

I've taken quite the hiatus from blogging! Enough of that though. I am back. Hello again.

The Hourglass Gallery on Main Street in Melrose, MA has taken me under their wing & is now representing me. You can drop in to admire (& purchase!) some of my work, along with other talented local artists. Lorrie, the shop owner, has gathered gorgeous creations from fine art, to jewlery to home furnishings....you're bound to circling the shop for a bit!

In other news:

-New York International Gift Show: Javits Center: January 30th-February 4th. If you're in New York, check it out!

-I've finally settled into my apartment properly- painted walls & set up a corner for art. My desk has a home (that is not under my bed), so now paintings should be coming more frequently!

-SVA's publication of Portfolio 30 is out! I'm represented by my giraffe piece, next to some other pretty amazing people.

-Also, my shameless promotion for work, because our new Spring 2010 catalogue is out & looks gorgeous & should be admired! Follow the link!
